Your Dream Lakefront Home Awaits on Lake Lanier
Aqua Casa, nestled on 1.74 acres along the serene shores of Lake Lanier, is not just a home, it’s a legacy built upon vision, love, and a deep connection to the land. With over 500 feet of shoreline to explore, Lake Lanier offers a breathtaking backdrop to this exceptional property, where nature and architecture blend seamlessly to create a tranquil retreat.
In collaboration with architect William C. Martin, an apprentice of Frank Lloyd Wright, the Hamptons designed a mid-century modern home that would harmonize with its natural surroundings. William C. Martin, known for his innovative designs and deep understanding of organic architecture, carefully placed Aqua Casa to ensure sweeping, unobstructed views of the lake, while also providing privacy from neighboring properties. The land itself, gently sloping toward the water’s edge, further enhances this sense of seclusion. Today, Aqua Casa continues to stand as a testament to Martin’s vision, offering stunning, panoramic lake views.
The story of Aqua Casa begins in the late 1950s, with Dr. Ben E. Hampton, Sr. and his wife, Betty. The creation of Lake Lanier coincided with the founding of the Chattahoochee Country Club (CCC), and in 1958, a lottery was held for coveted lakeside lots. Though Dr. Hampton’s lottery ticket didn’t land him the desired lot, he negotiated a clever trade with the owner of Lot 5, offering free dental care for the owner’s family in exchange for the lot. This gesture, full of community spirit and resourcefulness, marked the beginning of Aqua Casa’s unique history.

Memories and Serenity by Lake Lanier
Inside, the home features four bedrooms and four bathrooms, carefully designed to balance spaciousness and comfort for family living. The open-concept main level includes formal living and dining rooms, as well as a kitchen and family room that served as the heart of the home. Five entrances, large windows, skylights, and transoms bring in natural light and offer seamless transitions between the indoors and outdoors. The home’s thoughtful design makes it a perfect setting for both formal entertaining and casual family gatherings. The indoor fountain, a striking feature in the family room, replaced the traditional fireplace, creating a soothing atmosphere that became an iconic part of the home’s charm.
Aqua Casa has always been a place for making memories. The family room and kitchen were where friends and family would gather – often entering through the back door, facing the woods, or through the sliding glass doors leading to the patio and lake. The home also served as a sanctuary for a variety of pets including dogs, birds, and even baby chickens, all who added to the warmth and vitality of the home.
Over the years, Aqua Casa hosted numerous celebrations: birthday parties, baby showers, and family reunions. A favorite tradition was the Skittles game, which became a beloved activity for guests of all ages. The basement provided additional space for fun, with a recreation area complete with ping pong and pool tables, while Dr. Hampton’s workshop offered a place for him to pursue his hobbies. A laundry chute, another clever feature of the home, made everyday chores easier and more convenient.
Beyond the house, the natural beauty surrounding Aqua Casa has always been a source of peace and wonder. Over the years, the family has enjoyed watching geese glide across the lake and observing deer and birds visiting the property in the early mornings. The sunsets, with their vivid colors, and the gentle sounds of crickets at night, provided a sense of tranquility that enriched the family’s life in this extraordinary home.
Now, after many years of cherished memories, Aqua Casa awaits new owners to embrace the beauty, serenity, and joy that it has offered for generations. Dear Future Homeowner
Welcome to Aqua Casa, a place filled with cherished memories and unique character. My family has a rich history here that I’m excited to share.
Lake Lanier was created in the 1950s, reaching its required water level in 1957. Around the same time, the Chattahoochee Country Club (CCC) was established and held a lottery in 1958 for property sales along the new lake. My father, Dr. Ben E. Hampton Sr., was fortunate enough to secure a lot through a clever exchange of dental care with a friend who had a much better lottery number. This proved to be a great move!
When my parents, Ben and Betty, chose this location in Chattahoochee Estates, many thought they were taking a risk, as there was little around at the time. But they had a vision for their dream home and were ready to transform it into a haven.
They collaborated with architect William Martin, an apprentice of Frank Lloyd Wright, to design a mid-century modern home. The house was thoughtfully placed to ensure privacy while harmonizing with nature through skylights, transoms, large windows, and five entrances.
The main level features a semi-open floor plan with Modernfold “woodmaster” doors that provide flexibility between spaces:
– **Living and dining rooms** for formal entertaining
– **Kitchen and family room** for everyday use
– **Upstairs bedrooms and hallway** in this split-level layout
– **Master bedroom** connecting to Mom’s dressing room and the bathroom
This design fostered a vibrant family life. Instead of a fireplace, we had an indoor fountain, which became a beloved focal point, providing soothing sounds after busy days. The family room and kitchen were the heart of the home, where friends and family gathered—often through the back door facing the woods or the sliding glass door leading to the patio and lake.
Our home was also a sanctuary for a variety of pets, from dogs to birds and even baby chickens. We hosted countless celebrations—birthday parties, baby showers, and family reunions—often highlighted by our Skittles game, a favorite among guests of all ages.
The basement served as a recreation hub, featuring ping pong, pool tables, and my dad’s workshop. I fondly remember our laundry chutes—what a convenience!
Now that I’m older, I truly appreciate the natural beauty surrounding Aqua Casa. The geese glide across the lake, and in the mornings, deer and birds come to visit. At night, the soothing sounds of crickets fill the air, while sunsets paint the sky in stunning colors.
I hope you find joy and peace in this home, just as my family did. May it serve as a safe haven and a place for cherished memories with friends and family.
Best regards,
Elizabeth Hampton Harris
